SUMMARY:
The Product Innovation Director is responsible for driving the vision, strategy, business requirements, roadmap, and execution for assigned product lines. They advocate for the end user experience through data and research driven product discovery and development methods and align product development with Avel’s overall strategy and goals. The Director is responsible to facilitate and lead high-performing cross-functional teams including Clinician, IT, Business Development, Customer Support, Marketing and Legal, establishing deep partnerships with stakeholders. They direct the products through the product life cycle, from concept to end of line and develop and maintain a product roadmap with a set of Key Performance Indicators. This role will drive product reviews and product development including supporting business plans, work plans, pricings, contract work and other key aspects of the project. In addition, the Product Innovation Director will be responsible for directing pilots, rapid cycle improvement and obtaining and maintaining product success. The Product Director requires self-direction, responsibility, excellent inter-personal skills and travel.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Oversee the success of assigned products; working closely with the service lines, leaders, and partners to direct the product from concept to end-of-life. Develop and execute product vision, strategic direction and product roadmap in alignment with business goals.
- Listen to the market. Source market requirements for current and future products by conducting market research supported by general research, competitive intelligence, client and non-client visits. Validate new product concepts and develop business cases and financial projections to support investment request and resource allocation.
- Direct new product development. This includes market intelligence, conception, user research, design and prototyping, development, pilot, launch, measurement, iteration, and retirement.
- Define and execute project work plans aligned with the product roadmap., to ensure timely implementation of product recommendations. Set and monitor Key Performance Indicators across product performance, product effectiveness, customer satisfaction and process execution to ensure performance expectations are being met.
- Review and establish job responsibilities and authority, objectives, and standards of performance for subordinates. Provides guidance and direction to staff to coach them in their professional development.
- Direct efforts to support and inform the Sales and Client Management teams. Develop strong sales enablement tools to support new product launch and ensure successful communication and training on Avel’s value propositions, differentiators, and key messages.
- Collaborate with Product Analytics to translate qualitative and quantitative analysis and documentation into sound business strategies and functional planning. Demonstrate P&L knowledge and financial aptitude.
- Regularly engages the target market to understand customers’ needs and wants. Defines product requirements and manages the development of the product according to customer themes.
- Facilitate and lead high-performing cross-functional teams including Clinicians, IT, Business Development, Customer Support, Marketing and Legal, establishing deep partnerships with stakeholders.
- Direct assigned pilots in conjunction with clinical leadership and multi-disciplinary teams. Ensure clarity of program goals and objectives and achievement of those objectives. Review and escalate issues related to budget, clinical quality indicators, operational performance, and customer satisfaction during the ramp up, adjusting operations to address performance issues.
- Develop ongoing relationships with strategic partners, telehealth vendors, national and state associations, eCare clients, and clinical organizations in order to assist in the innovation of new services and ensure the quality and clinical efficacy of existing programs. Travel to events and other clinical innovation activities as needed.
REQUIRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in Business Management/Economics, Healthcare, Public Administration or related field is required. Master's degree in business or healthcare administration preferred.
- At least three to five years of Product Management or related experience required.
- Leadership experience required.
- Health care experience required.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATION, LICENSURE, and/or REGISTRATIONS:
- This position requires a valid driver’s license and that the employee is insurable by the Avel automobile liability insurance carrier.
- Certification in product management is desirable but not required.
